Unable to Access Wiley KnowItAll (2020+) Databases using Bruker OPUS

Question:

Why can't I access my Wiley KnowItAll (2020+) databases using Bruker OPUS?

Answer:

If you are seeing the "maximum installations" or "access denied" message, a security conflict has occurred between KnowItAll 2020 or newer and OPUS. Installing the update below should resolve the security conflict.

  1. Close KnowItAll ID Expert and OPUS
  2. Open File Explorer in Windows and make sure you are able to view hidden files and folders.  If you do not know how to do this, then please refer to this Microsoft knowledge article.
  3. Delete the hidden License folder from C:\Users\Public\Documents\Bio-Rad Laboratories
  4. Delete the hidden License folder from C:\Users\Public\Documents\Wiley
  5. Download the update from: http://update.knowitall.com/other/SDBSDK_Update/SDBSDKUpdate/64Bit.zip
  6. Unzip the files from the download and copy them to C:\Program Files\Bruker\OPUS.
  7. Click yes to replace all files
  8. Start ID Expert.
  9. ID Expert should ask for license activation information. Activate the license using ID Expert
  10. Close ID Expert
  11. Start OPUS and access the databases
